Slopeside Wine Cellar
Teton Village, Wyoming
The client of the Slopeside Wine Cellar sought to store and display a legacy wine collection at their mountain home while providing additional tasting and living space. Local regulations did not permit additional above ground construction, and the tight parameters of the site dictated the final location of the cellar to be under an existing auto court.
Apart from a small timbered extension over the new access stair, the stone entry court, which has now become the roof of the cellar, appears much as it did before the excavation to insert the cellar volume. The cellar space receives ample daylight from south facing oversized glass doors. Apart from this view, the 2,500 SF cellar was inserted into and around the existing topography and buildings for a discreet exterior appearance.
