CLB Architects was honored to be a participant at PORCH: An Architecture of Generosity at the U.S. Pavilion exhibition at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia in Venice, Italy. CLB was selected as one of 54 participants from across the United States through a national juried Open Call. The Pavilion showcased the diversity of contemporary American design, each participant contributing an immersive “PORCH window.”

Organized and led by Co-Commissioners Peter MacKeith, Dean of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, University of Arkansas; Susan Chin, Founding Principal, DesignConnects; Rod Bigelow, Executive Director, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Momentary, PORCH: An Architecture of Generosity explored the porch as a site of civic and cultural life. PORCH represented the United States’ exploration of civic engagement, community building, and social and environmental resilience through architecture and design.
The exhibit offered a multifaceted portrait of American architecture that spanned geographies, scales, disciplines, and identities. The Pavilion contributed to the broader dialogue on the role of architecture in fostering generosity, connection, and cultural exchange. Visit porchusavenice2025.org to learn more.

CLB’s installation featured Town Enclosure, a civic porch designed for the Jackson community, composed of circular cross-laminated timber panels that evoke Western storefronts, livestock corrals, and ancient stone circles. Set on a gravel field with reusable steel foundations and sustainably sourced wood, the demountable structure blurs the line between natural and built environments, shifting with perspective. Serving as both object and boundary, it connected Jackson’s Center for the Arts with Snow King Mountain, becoming a site for public engagement through dance, exhibitions, concerts, and spontaneous play. Now relocated to Bozeman, Montana, Town Enclosure continues to activate space and foster connection, discovery, and community interaction.
