  • State Licensure: MT

Inspired by the vernacular architecture of the West, Sam’s approach to design is rooted in practical problem solving. Having grown up in Jackson working in the family construction business, he has an intuitive knowledge of how projects are built. Sam practices an integrated approach to design, simultaneously working between the macro and micro details of a project.

Sam left his hometown to study architecture at Montana State University. After graduating with a master’s degree in 2007, he worked on a design-build project in Bozeman, Montana before moving back to Jackson. Sam joined the CLB Jackson Studio in 2009, became an Associate in 2018, and a Principal in 2021.  In 2017 he returned to Bozeman where he manages the firm’s Montana studio.

Sam has served on the Jackson Hole Public Art Task Force, providing professional and technical knowledge for reviewing local art programs and installations. He also served on the Town of Alpine, Wyoming Planning and Zoning Committee.

Sam takes advantage of the many outdoor opportunities that Bozeman has to offer.  He also enjoys creating art, producing music, and spending time with his wife and young daughter.
