Inspired by: Growing up in the suburbs of Houston, my inspiration came in the form of how architecture can be a tool for problem solving. My background as the son of a handyman introduced me to design through the medium of fabrication, which has only ever grown as a passion in exploring the tectonics of how architecture is realized and keeping rooted in the practice by getting my hands dirty when I can. I am continuously inspired by technological innovation within design, and I believe that embracing these tools, with a healthy regard for the foundations of our field, can only further enrich the dreams we seek to make a reality. My belief in the tenets of a contemporary critical regionalism guide my approach to design, where a sense of belonging is created through careful consideration of authenticity and a respect for the vernacular of place. These ideas are fueled by my constant pursuit of adventure, most notably through a study abroad semester spent exploring Barcelona, and more recently in completing a pipe dream of biking across the US. This trek gave me an understanding of the applications of architecture across the country, and it developed a sense of how to design for what people truly need.
