Bio

Filtering abstract concepts through every small detail, Andy is an architect dedicated to what he calls “cultivation through craft.” He considers himself a product of the Western environment, having grown up surrounded by custom residential construction in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. With firsthand experience of building and a deep respect for the endeavor of turning design into built form, Andy has continued to hone his expertise over 22 years of architectural practice, ranging from high-end residences to commercial developments.

Andy understands architecture as a lens for its site, offering the inhabitant the ability to interact with their environment on a more intimate level. Interested in sustainability as a long term approach to design and construction, he envisions each project over a 100-year life cycle, as a timeless and indivisible part of the natural world. Using enduring, honest materials, his buildings not only address their current conditions, but stand to serve future generations. Andy’s design process is deeply collaborative, engaging clients and contractors in establishing a strong conceptual frame that can guide future decision-making. Balancing creative drive with technical expertise, Andy has established himself as an engaged and multivalent leader over two decades at CLB. He now leads the firm as a partner, designer and operations manager, responsible for staff resource planning, recruitment, and professional development, as well as process standardization and resource management.

Andy earned his Masters of Architecture degree from Montana State University in 2000, and shortly after joined CLB. He was a Jackson Hole Public Art Board Member, and on the Town of Jackson committee to implement new architectural standards for downtown development. Andy and his wife, who is also an architect, live in a home they designed together which was built by their family. Inspired by the rugged environment of his home state, Andy enjoys spending time off the grid, whether it be fly fishing, hiking, hunting, or backcountry skiing.
