Bio

Andy’s work expresses the honesty of structure and materials.  As a native of the west, he designs buildings that are inherently simple and cohesive, honoring the area’s vernacular architecture with a modern sense of scale and proportion. He is inspired by the relationship between built forms and their natural surroundings, and believes that good architecture is inseparable from and enhances a sense of place. With an upbringing in the family construction business, Andy brings a firsthand knowledge of building to his projects. “I understand the complexity of construction and use that experience to achieve the intended design aesthetic in a more straightforward way.”

Having left Jackson to travel and pursue his architectural education, he was lured back to the valley by the evolving architecture and the unique wilderness opportunities. Now a partner, Andy joined CLB in 2000 after earning his Master’s Degree in Architecture from Montana State University. In addition to working on commercial buildings and private residences, Andy has an active role in the firm’s daily business operations. He served on a Town of Jackson committee responsible for creating new architectural standards for downtown development and is currently a Jackson Hole Public Art Board Member. He co-designed his own house with his wife, who is also an architect, creating a uniquely western yet modern home by reinterpreting their strict neighborhood design guidelines. Outside the studio, he enjoys spending time with his family, fly-fishing, hiking and backcountry skiing.
