Inspired by: As a child, I knew I had a passion to be in a creative field. Growing up in New Orleans, I loved the unique styles of architecture in the city; Victorian, Creole, French, and Art Deco. The rich history seeps from every corner. My parents’ shotgun home sparked a curiosity in me, and I wondered why I had not seen these houses in other cities I had been to. The deep history about shotgun homes surprised me – how the aspects of design, like how narrow and long these houses were, had a specific a purpose. In college, I discovered how incorporating architecture and interior design can create designs that have a profound impact on mental health. Using “design with nature” can create a safe and beautiful space for others to connect with their surroundings. Studying design psychology showed me a complex side of design that inspired me and solidified my decision to work interior design.
